Why choose LED Lighting for your venue?

LED lighting is a relatively new lighting technology, which up until recently has only been used as in small electronic equipment. This was mainly due to that the production costs were quite expensive as the costs of semi-conductor material was higher. Over the recent years these costs have dropped steadily leading the path for much more LED bulb production thus a huge boom in popularity due to the benefits they offer. LEDs are with all of its benefits, the wave of the future as many technologies, particularly electronics, will utilize these bulbs in many applications for their effectiveness and size leading to easy adaptation during manufacturing.

Due to increased popularity and decreased costs, there has been a large increase into the research of LED lighting technology which has now helped to bring LEDs up to a level where it can compete with conventional lighting technologies such as incandescent and fluorescent lighting.

There are tremendous advantages to using LED lighting compared to conventional incandescent bulbs. It does not have a filament that ultimately burns requiring regular replacement thus the LED bulb lasts much longer often up to 20 times as long. Durability is also a factor as the tough plastic casing of the diode is much more damage resistant than traditional bulbs. This enables LEDs to be used within much smaller fittings than incandescent lamps could, without worrying about causing damage to the bulb.

Beyond the physical advantages to the LED bulb, it is their energy efficiency that is most beneficial. Incandescent bulbs emit lights thanks to the high generation of heat as the internal filament requires this to operate. As a result a great deal of energy is expended to heat the filament and produce light and most of the generated heat is not used towards visible light.

Since LEDs generate barely any heat and just a small amount of energy is required to produce light, LEDs are very beneficial to consumers as the cost and use of electricity is greatly reduced thus saving money and energy.

LEDs are available in almost any white colour temperature ranging from Warm White (~2500K) through to Daylight (>6500K). They are also available in a huge variety of single colours with the most popular being Blue, Green, Red and Yellow/Amber. Multi-coloured RGB LEDs are also available which are a combination of Red, Green and Blue LEDs, and mix these colours together to create virtually any colour desired. Colours can be preset onto one static colour, fade into each other, flash/strobe, or a combination of each.

Although initially more expensive on the front end, LED bulbs far outlast incandescent bulbs and the energy savings and operating life is far superior to any other bulb. This results in long-term cost savings for consumers and an environmentally friendly product. It is for these reasons that LED lighting usage has increased rapidly for both commercial and residential lighting applications.
