Introducing TAIT Outdoor's accessories range

Australian designers and manufacturers of contemporary outdoor furniture that has a colourful metal bent, TAIT Outdoor, are also stockists of accessories that similarly exude personality and add fun to external spaces.

Outdoor balconies, courtyards and larger gardens have become an extension of indoor living areas.  Accessorising outdoor spaces is an opportunity to complement a home’s overall look and ambience, rather than being the last bastion for odds and ends discards.  Well designed outdoor accessories and furniture help to maximise available external space and to create alluring outdoor getaways that invite people to spend time in.

Proudly made in Melbourne, TAIT Outdoor has a long tradition of partnering with innovative established and emerging Australian designers such as Adam Goodrum and Justin Hutchinson to forge the way in providing local manufacture and a pathway to market for fresh, cutting edge, furniture designs.

So too, TAIT Outdoor also represents a select range of exceptional accessories for outdoor spaces that have been designed by Australian designers and artisans, and which are manufactured locally to very high standards.

Stocking the product of other designers in addition to their own brand is part of design couple Susan and Gordon Tait’s philosophy of nurturing local design talent and production.

“Australians today are spending more time dining and entertaining in outdoor spaces – we’ve therefore developed a collection of stunning accessories to enliven those areas,” says Susan.

Umbrellas in a range of beautiful prints and colours by Melbourne graphic designer, Linda Di-Gusto, likewise cushions in Mokum Outdoor Fabrics, powder coat or aged rusted finish planters, sculptures and candle holders can be mixed and matched to create a total story.
“Accessorising an outdoor space borrows from the same principles of good design where clean lines and colour applied well, can make for a visually enhanced and more enjoyable environment.”

Any accessory that’s included in the TAIT Outdoor accessory collection, like the furniture, must be made of the highest quality materials and finishes with the ability to endure our harsh environmental conditions.

Gordon Tait’s own foray into accessories includes Thor Firepit and the Icon Tray. And just as his own entries in the Fringe Festival’s early beginnings got TAIT’s work noticed, the company has sponsored Melbourne’s Fringe Furniture Festival Award for the last five years. Sally-Ann Mill, the 2011 winner for her metal bedspring chandelier is now collaborating with TAIT on an outdoor chandelier.
“We have fabulous designers in Australia and we think it’s important to give back,” says Susan Tait whose background in textile design and marketing Australian brands underpins the business’ affinity for supporting other local artisans and manufacturers.
