New Darling Harbour dining precinct opening September

Darling Quarter - the new eating hub at Sydney's Darling Harbour - is set to open in late September featuring a mixture of restaurants and cafes offering cuisine styles from around the world.

Foodservice tenants signed up for the new project include Stacks Taverna and Bar, a Mediterranean grill concept from Nick's of Darling Harbour, designed by Michael McCann; Meno Diciotto gelataria from the Trovato family in Five Dock; Nok Nok Thai Garden from Nok of Stir Crazy Thai; Sydney veteran bakery Taste; and Janus a boutique Italian wine bar from the Bacco team.

Other restaurants include Braza, a Brazilian churrascaria; Guylian, a chocolate "experience"; Box and Bowl, a hole in the wall fast fusion Asian takeaway; Umi Sushi, a Tokyo inspired urban sushi diner; gourmet sandwich creators Fat Duck; and Son of Tuysuz serving traditional Turkish fare in an intimate kitchen setting.

Darling Quarter, is located close to the popular Chinese Gardens tourist attraction and in front of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in the spot where the Sega World once operated.

The site will have a ready made stream of hungry mouths from the new Commonwealth Bank Place building, headquarters to more than 6000 employees.

Also giving appeal will be the precinct's "community green" area that will feature colourful, oversized picnic rugs plus director and deck chairs.

As well there will be a children's playground with more than 4000 square metres of play area including a large-scale interactive day and night water play features that the management says are the first of their kind in Australia.
