Supawood’s prefinished acoustic curved ceiling panel systems solve problems for remote site

Supawood’s Supacoustic curved prefinished acoustic panel systems have met all the specification requirements called for by an award winning architect involving both engineering and logistical challengers.

The design of the multi-purpose hall for a recreation camp on a small remote Island on the Hawkesbury River, incorporated a concave curved ceiling which typically creates acoustic difficulties. The ceiling paneling needed to be for both interior and undercover exterior application while in a timber finish to blend with the bush setting. The panels also had to be environmentally friendly, robust, acoustically effective, supplied prefinished and packed suitable for delivery to the remote site via a small barge.

Supawood’s acoustic panels proved to be the perfect solution to a somewhat complex panel installation. Plus the architect was able to confidently draw on Supawood’s technical expertise and systems to ensure that the installation of the curved ceiling was completed with a precision to match the designs poetic appeal.

Additionally Supawood supplied precise framing instructions. This followed on from full size prototype curving tests in the Supawood factory to determine the precise degree of treatment required to ensure that the acoustic ceiling panel system curved perfectly when installed on site, without the slightest segmentation.

The Hoop Pine veneered acoustic ceiling panels were supplied flat packed in standard sizes, prefinished and pretreated to be curvable. Supawood also ensured that the size of each delivery load was limited exactly to accommodate the capacity of the only access to the island, the barge. All this meant on-site work was minimized.

The end result is a credit to Supawood’s dedication to go that extra mile.
