Hilton Surfers Paradise is the first leisure-focussed hotel and residence offering by Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Australia.  The $700million Hilton Surfers Paradise is a two-tower development which contains a combination of 169 stylish hotel rooms and 250 spacious residences available in one, two and three bedroom configurations.

Both towers were designed by acclaimed architects and interior designers, The Buchan Group, designers of The Wharf at Woolloomooloo in Sydney, Raffles City Shopping Centre in Beijing, Westfield London, The Sebel Noosa, Brisbane’s Treasury Casino and Jupiters Hotel and Casino on the Gold Coast.

The brief was to create a sophisticated residential and hotel offering unrivalled on the Gold Coast, capturing stunning views of long white beaches to the east and mountain ranges and winding canals to the west.

The buildings showcase strong external design features and synergy, with a significant difference in height ensuring the individual identity of each building. The result is two visually impressive buildings of stunning form and simplicity.

Despite the structural differences, each part has a logical, functional purpose and each is inextricably related to the building’s use and location. The great arcs responding to water and land are represented in the building curvature, while at the same time stabilising the relationship between them.

Hotel lobby
The Buchan Group designed an interior with finishes that hark back to the beach and coastal theme that threads its way throughout the hotel interiors from the lobby to the hotel guestrooms. The brief from Hilton was to create an interior aesthetic that differed from their other hotels.  The finished result was a more relaxed ambiance in keeping with the hotels unique and spectacular location – a departure from the corporate model that usually characterises Hilton Hotels & Resorts worldwide.

The lobbies are minimalist, and the harmonious finishes provide textural contrast and a point of difference to the immediate contextual locale. The lobby introduces visitors to the graceful oasis that is Hilton Surfers Paradise, amidst the energy of Surfers Paradise.

The feature stair case, gleaming in a loosely inter-woven metal shroud, was created by The Buchan Group to inspire interest and draw patronage to the bar and restaurant on Level 1, and seen from the street through round porthole-like windows. The design draws parallels with similar imagery on the beach after a storm or along the weathered fencing on coastal dunes.

Hotel Guestrooms
The furniture and finishes in the guestrooms mirror the relaxed sentiment of the lobby and other connections within the hotel including guestroom corridors. The natural materials and colour palette utilised in The Buchan Group’s design are punctuated with a bright splash of playful yellow that adds an unexpected element in the private sanctuary of tranquillity and comfort. The headboards and feature doors are water themed, while at the same time the curvilinear layers are also reminiscent of ripples in sand dunes left by tides and the wind.

Hotel Residences and sub-penthouses
These one, two and three bedroom residences in both Orchid and Boulevard Towers are owned privately. Branded with the same interior aesthetic, the residences are a comfortable, spacious, ‘home away from home’ for Hilton guests, providing options for dining-in and entertaining. They also take advantage of the magnificent ocean, Surfers Paradise and hinterland views on offer.

The neutral tones of the interiors are complemented by the natural wood and textural finishes of the furniture and furnishings, where a relaxed and subdued atmosphere is created.  Fitted with modern appliances and contemporary durable finishes, built in robes and separate laundry, these apartments fulfil expectations for a comfortable and luxurious weekend away or extended vacation.

The apartments in the upper floors of Orchid Tower have even higher levels of amenity. The sub-penthouse and penthouse apartments are finished with natural stone products and fitted with European appliances and bathroom fixtures and fittings, including spa baths, and rain showers in the penthouses.

The Deck
A spectacular focal point at the centre of the hotel atop the podium, The Deck is a vast 1500m² space with four stylish pools, a spa, sauna, private day beds, shaded picnic areas, an outdoor terrace, and BBQ pavilions.

Relaxed and tranquil, The Deck bar is inviting and merges seamlessly with the immediate surroundings, while at the same time The Buchan Group designed the finishes and reflective surfaces to pay homage to the night life of Surfers Paradise.

Executive Floor
The Executive Lounge is accessible to Hilton Honors members, those who stay on the Executive level, or wish to add access when they book their stay.

With floor to ceiling glass windows featuring stunning ocean and hinterland views, the lounge showcases spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The facility comprises a private meeting room, work counters, self service buffet-style food and beverage area, intimate dining spaces and open lounge areas. The finishes are warm and earthy for a modern, relaxed ambiance.

eforea: spa at Hilton
Hilton Surfers Paradise features eforea: spa at Hilton, the first purpose built spa of its kind at a Hilton property in Australia.

The facility includes seven private treatment rooms including a contemporary Vichy shower (wet room) and two double rooms for couples. The spa reception area has a visible presence from the podium deck and doubles as the retail outlet for the eforea spa brand.

The Buchan Group’s design strategy for the spa was inspired by a ‘desert island’ scenario, creating a sense of escapism, intimate time out and wellbeing. The neutral palette is reminiscent of the beach and a relaxed, textured coastal aesthetic.

Event and conference facilities
The hotel’s boutique ballroom is equipped with the latest audio visual technology and has a maximum capacity of 350 guests, cocktail style. It is also complemented by a range of spectacular outdoor event spaces, a business centre, theatre and a number of smaller boardroom style breakout rooms.

The Buchan Group’s concept for the ballroom was based on the ‘deep sea’; mysterious and alluring, dynamic and intriguing, confident and provocative, sophisticated and unexpected. This room provides a neutral backdrop for weddings, functions and conferences, without losing its own strong identity.

The Event and Conference suite is also equipped with Business Centre and Meeting Rooms for added guest convenience when business must take precedence over leisure. These rooms are well equipped technically and fitted out for comfort, privacy and efficiency.
