PMDL were asked by the the hotel to refurbish forty rooms to reflect the peaceful and calming nature of its locations set beside the lake in Macquarie University campus.

PMDL proposed two schemes that would alternate between a soft calming green colour scheme and a dark grey more sophisticated scheme. They used soft textures such as raw timber stools and Bolou wool textiles and contemporary furniture to add some warmth to the spaces while using very simply design furniture pieces to de-clutter the space. Dark feature wall surfaces and light surroundings help to add drama to the space along with soft side lighting which is centrally switched to add ambience as well as convenience.

The bathrooms were very challenging as they were very small in space. PMDL completely overhauled with new fittings and surfaces. A new vanity and wall lights by Inlite along with a large mirror above both the vanity and the toilet help to enlarge the space but adding a touch of sophistication.

Overall the client has been very happy with the project. PMDL had to work with a very tight building program completing all forty rooms in two months but keeping half of the hotel opening at all times and minimising disruption to the hotel guests.
