Launceston's Alchemy Bar & Restaurant is the branchild of Nick Murphy and Bindi Smith and it is their first venture into the hospitality industry.

There are two main areas in the venue: the bar and the restaurant. They each run from the front of the building to the back and are separated by the entrance hall. The interior is mostly open plan flowing from bar and restaurant at the front into the lounge area at the rear.

The interior decoration is an eclectic blend of original 1850’s features (convict brick wall, cedar doors,

pressed tin), alongside a quirky array of birdcages (housing lights and candles), large gilt mirrors and a new pressed tin bar front that compliments the original pressed tin ceiling in the rear dining room.

There's an ample use of red features throughout including floor to ceiling sheer curtains in the dining room which add a warming effect during cold Tasmanian winters. There are many seating options from luxurious chesterfield sofas, low wooden tables with milking stools to an ottoman area with mini tables.
