A feature of North Burleigh SLSC is a large undercover beer garden area right on the beach that can hold up to 400pax. For many years the club wanted to televise live sport in this area but due to the very high levels of ambient light no “standard” big screen was suitable. The reflection from the water on large LCD screens would render the vision unwatchable.

Matthew Dagg, General Manager, learnt about Big Screen Video and their large format LED screens that are used in full sunlight as scoreboards and outdoor screens. Their products were so suited to the venue a 3.75m2 semi-outdoor LED screen was installed almost two years ago.

According to Matthew, along with the visual impact of the big screen, the service and after sales support provided by Big Screen Video has been nothing short of exceptional which is very reassuring when committing to such an installation.

This big screen is turned on when the Club opens and runs nonstop all day, 7 days per week. They feature every main event that is taking place and have marketed feature days surrounding all sporting finals and marquee events. The big screen effect on restaurant and bar trade has been considerable and all key events from State of Origin games to Melbourne Cup to AFL grand finals to the Bathurst 1000 have contributed favourably to their return on investment.

In partnership with a third party the Club holds weekly video trivia nights that will remain a fixture in their marketing program due to the popularity and suitability of the big screen.

“It has given the Club a significant point of difference and we are proud to say that we were the first to install a Big Screen Video LED screen on the Gold Coast…I only wish we did it years ago,” said Matthew.
