Altis undertook the refurbishment of the existing atrium at Wests New Lambton, transforming the area into a contemporary and lively dining precinct.

The existing atrium’s abundance in natural light inspired the designers to reflect a strong outdoor theme within the space, providing customers with a refreshingly bright and festive atmosphere to enjoy with either friends or family.

The Mexican cuisine on offer at Cantina, described as “fresh, fast and funtastico…” was a main driver when selecting appropriate finishes and furniture for the themed space. Altis took inspiration from the vibrant colours and rich textures associated with Mexican culture.

The design consists of layers of detail and texture in order to create an authentic and vivid atmosphere. These layers include rope screens, colourful vertical timber boarding, woven pendants and striped carpet amongst a mix of imported timbers. The use of natural finishes and timber reinforce the relaxed and casual character of the space. A mix of eclectic furniture was also selected to contribute the restaurant’s lively environment, which has made Wests Cantina a very popular dining experience for a wide variety of user groups.

Weaver Pendant

Hand woven from nylon rope the Weaver pendant lights are the work of a macramé artist who spends hours weaving their unique form. These light fixtures use traditional craft techniques and are approximately 550mm in height and 270mm in diameter. Through the Weaver lighting collection’s intricate shape beautiful shadow play is achieved within the space.
