The brief called for a design reflective of the crafted simplicity of the food and drink, while referencing a Scandinavian palette; effortless and clean yet layered with subtlety.

After removing the existing shell’s suspended ceiling, a coffered concrete soffit was revealed to inform the insertion of a simple screen of tonally washed timber veneers. Providing tangible scale, these panels slot together to define a rectilinear footprint framed by the screen and the existing glazing.

The re-configurable screen also responds to the building’s existing geometry, establishing a language of 45-degree chamfers which allow for a repeated motif throughout the interior.

Lastly, a pair of linear joinery counters each with a defined focus and function are positioned centrally and are held by solid timber lighting beams to provide intimacy within scale. Handcrafted, these furniture elements have been specifically designed in response to customer and staff needs.
