For the Four Seasons Sydney Hotel Lobby refurbishment the objective was to create a ‘luxury lounge room’ within this grand hotel lobby atrium.

Capitalising on the 1980’s modernist clean line architectural space, the scope of work has been focused on new furniture, new finishes and  lighting, to create this new lobby space.

First impression of arrival is at the hotel lobby port cochere which is finished with new crystal chandeliers flanking the clear glass entry doors, announcing a grand arrival at the Four Seasons Sydney.

For the new lobby design, a formal lounge area has been created in the heart of the lobby, in front of the front desks. This new seating group is designed with contemporary styled furniture, stylishly placed on a semi circular hand made rug. Modern Italian styled sofas and lounge chairs are finished in stitched leather, jacquard woven velvet; feature coffee tables in white Onyx and polished stainless steel, contrasting black lacquered console tables.

The new furniture pieces are modern, stylish, setting the theme for a formal yet relaxing lounge room. A smaller seating group has also been created side by side with this main lounge group, creating an extra comfort zone for hotel guests.

A most significant element of the lobby atrium is the grand stair case.  As part of the refurbishment scheme a new stair rug has been designed, with colour and pattern flowing onto the main semi circular rug and the square rug at the smaller seating group, forming a triptych.

These new rugs are designed in an abstractive triangulated pattern, echoing the architectural language; hand carved cut and loop piles have created extra layers of plushness under feet. Celadon and gold, complementing the rust brown lobby colour scheme.

As part of the lounge room concepts, local Australian sculptors’ work has been selected as collection; these will be strategically placed, forming part of the new lobby lounge room experience.

Whilst the grand stair case has remained as a most prominent feature in the lobby, the front desks, have been given a total face lift for a wow factor. Exotic mother of pearl is used as wall panel, the reception counters are refinished in a new Ebonised timber finish, contrasting with the Mother of Pearl. This area is further embellished with modern styled chandeliers suspended above the reception desks, creating this extra layer of glitz and glamour, the hallmark of a five star grand hotel lobby.
