Gerardʼs Bistro is the latest instalment in the fashionably festive James Street Precinct. And itʼs the latest incarnation from the people who brought you Laruche and the Lychee Lounge. Like itʼs predecessors, Gerardʼs is an enticing and enveloping destination, but this time, the focus is firmly on the food.

Nestled away in the new digs on the corner of James and McLachlan Streets, Gerardʼs Bistro is a multifaceted venue - in both itʼs styling and offering. Owners Elie, Johnny and Mel Moubarak have set out to create a cool contemporary eatery, with a hot kitchen and warm welcome.

“Gerardʼs is a logical progression for us” says Elie. “We love eating out - the food, the whole dining experience. Thereʼs such a diversity of great restaurants today. We were keen to build on that and see what we could bring to the mix. James Street provided the ideal location.”

Elie Moubarak cultivated the modern décor featuring a textured environment while embracing and maintaining a relaxed style. The intelligently simplistic design crafts a flow through a series of linking facets, creating a unique experience for every patron. The Gerardʼs interior is an elegant blend of fine lines, sharp angles and smooth finishes. There is a strong use of earthy materials - marble, concrete, brick, timber, steel, brass, copper and glass. A raw concrete ceiling is partially exposed between battened timber ribcages that wrap around the edges.

Artisan Moroccan tiles and bespoke fittings add special touches throughout. The Moroccan tiled walls meld with futuristic lighting fixtures and one seriously impressive concrete bar to create an exotic and eclectic space. Furnishings are generously proportioned and comfortably plush. The kitchen with itʼs jeans and t-shirt clad crew is open to engage with patrons.
