In keeping with the concept of the new design, Joshua Bacon Design chose a selection of material suppliers that would support the American 1950’s, stylish modern bar atmosphere. They strove to achieve a high level of attention to detail when it came to material applications and finishes, with respect to meeting timelines and budgetary restrictions.

The previous Supper Club was in dire need of a face lift, with an out of date atmosphere and faded green curtains; the venue was screaming out to be revamped, breathing new life into a tired performance space.

The new look Gingers bar at the Oxford Hotel incorporates stylish nostalgic themes of American 1950’s rock n’roll, supported by under tones of art deco opulence merging into a sexy and seductive atmosphere.

The new burlesque cabaret performance space and bar is highlighted by its tiered level flooring, curved vinyl patterned booth seating, plush velvet ottomans, walnut stained ply, topped off by details of 1950’s clock radios. All of which are designed to provide an intimate lounge bar and dining experience using the stage as a focal point.

The new design transcends the live performance venue into a flexible space, allowing it to change into a nightclub with dance floor, lounge bar with intimate dining areas, live recording venue, and, on occasion transforms into an art gallery aided by new feature picture rails. In addition, the stage was designed with a built in rising platform which doubles as extra lounge seating.

One of the main features of the space is the intentional monochromatic colour palette, with splashes of velvet red, silver, creams and charcoal, creating a sensual timeless and reminiscent atmosphere. All of which is tied together by the theatrical strip lighting that changes colour, intelligently placed in the ceiling, under steps and around the stage, making for an inviting live performance, lounge bar and dining experience.
