The brief was to create a destination venue, a block away from the popular Hurricanes Grill this burger focused restaurant had to draw new patrons while offering existing clientele a new and exciting restaurant.

Known for their traditional Portuguese influences, theatre is an important part of the brand. The kitchen had to feel a part of the dining area with a connection between the interior and courtyard essential. As a holiday destination, the Gold Coast is about outdoor drinking and dining. The restaurant sits within the Circle on Cavill precinct, exposed to high wind the courtyard needed to be sheltered but feel open and airy.

Materiality played an important role in contributing to the atmosphere; warm timbers worked with textural brickwork and graphically laid tiles. Exposed metal with subtle decorative elements kept the space raw while a clever use of steel piping ensured the courtyard and interior felt connected.
