Inspired by their Mother’s recipes, and the authentic southern French cuisine; Luc & Loic La Joye opened Loluk Bistro in a converted terrace on Bourke Street, Surryhills.

The Provençale inspired interior features rustic brick and stone, with sandstone walls and an original fireplace. White tablecloths, mood lighting and ornate ceiling and wall chandeliers set the tone. A motivational quote (in French) adorns the wall and there are pictures transferred onto wood by JustNelly, a French artiste.

Provençale ceramic tiles and old Provencal newspapers on the bathroom doors add to the charm. In keeping with the Provençale style, colours are neutral. An arched doorway through a sandstone wall leads to the bar area and more seating. Past the kitchen there’s a private courtyard dining area at the back of the restaurant.

Street front seating is available where the area is adorned with olive trees.
