The Malvern Hotel is Hotel is an established identity on the corners of Glenferrie and Malvern Road in Malvern. Herniman Interiors brief was to take the downstairs dining room, lounge and foyer and give them an identity.

As food, wine and service are major features of the hotel, the owners wanted the new interiors to reflect these characteristics.

The solution was to create a sophisticated and inviting interior with an indoor/outdoor feeling, similar to that of a 1950’s style garden setting.

Herniman Interiors gave a presence to the downstairs dining area by creating large pendant light fitting that are easily viewed by potential patrons travelling along Glenferrie road. The colours are warm and inviting whilst uholsteries are rich and appealing.

Joinery is simple and smart, conveying a whimsical and relaxed environment. Herniman Interiors selection of furniture gave much consideration to patrons comfort with an emphasis on “relax”, while keeping the Hotel’s serious approach to food, wine, beer and service with a prominent marble reception desk, starkly noticeable as one first enters the venue from Glenferrie road.

The client wanted to be involved in the design and build process, but has other businesses to run. This project enabled Herniman Interiors to manage the entire experience for the client, from design to builder selection, to contract management and finally completion.

The end result has been to create a series of rooms that the existing clientele will be at home with and new clientele will want to call home.
