A quaint hotel nestled within North Adelaide underwent a simple but dramatic transformation bringing life and vibrancy back into the tired interior; all this without turning its back on the original heritage. Modernist touches, the use of ‘kitsch’ accessories like a designer pig table and a collection of stark white cuckoo-clocks, add drama and impact to the space; the result – a comfortable traditional feel within a contemporary atmosphere.

More recently Studio Nine Architects designed and delivered a new outdoor kitchen and bar space featuring recycled bricks and polished concrete floors. Slatted ceilings create shadows that are ever changing. Classic bentwood chairs, a recycled timber bar and eclectic light fittings create a casual, relaxed space in which to while away a lazy afternoon.
