The project (completed in November 2009) was a refurbishment of the existing Cocktail Bar at the Railway, and included the addition of an outdoor
terrace, with seperate entry from Chapel Street, and unisex toilets.

The owners wanted to create a space to serve premium cocktails, that would also cater to exclusive private functions. By adding the terrace and toilets, the bar is now self contained.

“We wanted to capture the essence of Windsor in the design: edgy, colourful and urban,” said Andrew Mitchell from Urban Pad. “We collaborated with graphic designers Studio Equator to introduce whimsical images for lightboxes that took inspiration from local grafitti and tattoo art.”

Lighting is generally subdued, with a custom fitting designed by Urban Pad, and manufactured by Haasch featuring over the bar. Haasch manufactured the eye catching pendants used in the Main Bar next door, so a sense of consistency continues throughout.

Green flocked Artemide Tolomeo Table Lamps add a sculptural aspect to the lighting design, and provide serious task lighting for the barmen and women.

Vibrantly coloured mirrored panels aligned in a “Paul Smith Stripe” add sexy reflective depth to the bar and toilets. Flocked black stripe wallpaper finishes off the walls with style.

Tait furniture inside and on the terrace adds elegance with the beautiful lines of the Jak and Jil bar settings.
