The Sofitel Brisbane has opened a new resturant Privé 249 which seats up to 52 guests. The restaurant’s floor to ceiling windows frame magnificent city views, overlooking Brisbane Central Clock Tower and the historic Anzac Square.

“Privé 249 is about creating an overall dining experience for our guests,” says General Manager Goran Aleksandrovski. “All your senses are engaged - magical views, sublime flavours, smart service and striking décor, even the cutlery is unique.”

The intimate restaurant has been created by partitions of beaded curtains. By day natural light streams through the windowed wall and by night the mood is transformed with dramatic Italian chandeliers and giant candles. Black glass tabletops are set with white china and Italian titanium cutlery – a striking mix of gold and silver.

The interiors are actually existing from the original revamp in 2007, which was by Andrew Wales formerly with Perrott Lyon Mathieson.

The new-look of Prive 249 has been achieved by some very innovative lighting and layout changes. The decadent Italian chandeliers and candle features contrast beautifully against the the dark glass table tops.

The dominant white candles are hand made, average weight of about 35kg (ranging from 30cm to 70cm). There are several of these throughout the entire hotel and in an intimate space such as prive 249 they have a striking impact. The candle maker is a local supplier from the Sunshine Coast - Suzie Mansley.

The Prive 249 logo is projected by a Selecon fixture supplied by AV Partners, the on site AV company at the hotel.
