Purchased in October of 2005, the Heritage Hotel has undergone a major refurbishment (2006) and a recent
reconfiguration (2009). The refurbishment involved the total gutting and rebuilding of the ground and first
floors. The old girl was in a sad state and was crying out for an enthusiastic team to restore her to her former glory. This took the best part of twelve months to plan and execute, but has been well worth the time, effort and financial investment.

The subsequent reconfiguration ensured a more efficient and profitable use of the various spaces. The restaurant moved into a completely remodelled space, as did the billiards and gaming rooms, and a new dance room was opened to service the upstairs nightclub.

The owner’s vision throughout has been to provide a place that would speak to a broad cross section of the Rockhampton population, from the business community to young professionals and families. The important heritage elements, including its stunning façade, have been retained and restored – whilst the interior has been transformed into a modern, appealing and functional space.

The style had to be contemporary and inviting, designed to make patrons feel instantly welcome and
comfortable. To achieve this, the old fixtures and furnishings were retired, replaced with solid timber tables, dark leather chairs/sofas, complemented by Balinese inspired ornaments.

The four bars are also new, all finished with solid New Guinea walnut tops and Rockhampton-quarried washed sandstone facades.

Beer Garden (and Smokers’ Deck)
Sit back, relax and enjoy the sunshine in the upstairs Beer Garden with full bar and food service. Admire the unique ‘beer tap’ water feature that extends the length of the space. Smokers have not been forgotten with an elevated, mezzanine decking area that is both compliant with new smoking regulations and provides stunning views of the Fitzroy River and

Rockhampton’s heritage skyline. Revellers haven’t been forgotten either: the old upstairs Billiards Room was turned into an additional dance floor for the upstairs nightclub. The carpet was replaced with polished boards, the perimeter benches were removed and a new DJ box was installed.

Restaurant
The Hotel now features a 75-seat premier restaurant, sitting in the space between the Hotel’s entrance foyer and its Cocktail Bar (The Quay). This space is well appointed with new fixtures and furniture, including a feature wine display. It is now one of the Hotel’s most prominent features and one of the most sophisticated dining rooms in town.

The Quay
The Quay is the upmarket cocktail lounge and provides an intimate and relaxed environment for those wanting to experience a classic capital-city ambience. Private booths line the wall and the bar only stocks premium spirits, liqueurs and beers. Furthermore, patrons enjoy a beautiful influx of sun and the river breeze through the room’s bi-fold windows.

Bars
The four bars at the Heritage were rebuilt from scratch allowing new design, layout and much improved efficiency. All bar equipment is new, including a complete glycol beer system located in the new purpose-built cool-room. Additionally, the installation of larger refrigerators and glass washers behind the bars are helping staff improve their customer service levels, all whilst pulling beers from distinctive fast-flow Lancer beer taps.

Function Room
The Heritage Hotel now has a dedicated function room, located on Level One. This private room caters for a variety of functions from lunches/dinners to more casual celebrations. The function room also has a private bar which enables staff to efficiently service private gatherings whilst continuing to look after the needs of casual drinkers.

Supervision Electronics installed a comprehensive audio system throughout the hotel featuring tenAustralian Monitor Install 50 speakers, ten Install 30 speakers and six of their 8″ ceiling speakers. A couple of Yamaha 12″ speakers service the beer garden driven by a Yamaha power amplifier and anAcoustic Technologies sound processor.
