The Roasted Berry is a new venue at Mingara Recreation Club on the Central Coast located in the heart of the Club and is the main offering for casual all day dining. The designs includes a fully equipped on site bakery exposed to full view for the sensory benefit of the patrons.
The brief was to create a feeling that is eclectic, light, fresh and relaxed: complementary to a service style that is casually interactive with clientele and serving food that is organic, healthy and fresh.
The introduction of natural daylight into the space was one of the key elements in the design. This was achieved by installing solar tubes in the ceiling space to deflect the natural light from the existing roof over into the new area. Existing glazed openings were uncovered, refurbished and re-used. Carefully concealed LED strip uplighting which uses the white ceiling surfaces to deflect and diffuse the light throughout the space.
With a tight budget and time frame, the selection of materials was minimised to what is readily available and locally buildable without lengthy lead times. The design also sought to re-use as much of the existing envelope as possible without having to modify any major services.
