The recent completion of ‘1st on Wharf’ sports bar at Twin Towns Services Club is the first stage of a major renovation of the existing club.

The original client brief was to create a masculine environment (or ‘man cave’ as some described) to suit an essentially male client base.

This is largely achieved through the use of rustic materials – recycled brick, grey iron bark timber and concrete. Herringbone patterned timber wall paneling, back of bar tiles and carpet/fabric designs add visual interest throughout the space.

The main bar is formed with a concrete hob and recycled timber top. Large industrial pendants suspended over the bar create a focal point in the centre of the space.

Furniture selections played a large role in defining and demarcating the space, with black Tolix bar stools and high timber tables around the bar aimed at the sports crowd and more low level comfortable armchairs and banquette seat for longer stay guests.

The aptly named Ladies Lounge is a welcome retreat from the main bar space, and is intended to be more feminine in feel.  This is achieved through the use of warm timber paneling, soft up-lighting and more feminine style furniture and fabrics in gold and plum tones.
