The Golden Gate Hotel, built in 1853, is one of South Melbourne's oldest, most historical venues. Situated in the heart of South Melbourne on the corner of Clarendon and Coventry Streets, the Golden Gate Hotel has recently been extensively refurbished and this once traditional pub has been reinterpreted as both a classic and contemporary design space.
Pulse Audio Visual designed and installed a new audiovisual system into the Hotel as part of the refurbishment of the venue and as quality was a number one priority, a JBL sound system was chosen.
The venue is divided into four zones (front bar, restaurant/lounge area and two function rooms upstairs) and each zone has its own audio source and volume level, controlled by a wall mounted keypad installed in each bar, thanks to a dbx ZonePRO 1261m digital multi-zone audio management system.
“The ZonePRO is reliable, functional, and easy to operate and install,” commented Adam Dullens, managing director of Pulse Audio Visual.
The ‘m’ version of the ZonePRO 1261m was born out of an overwhelming user desire to extend the reach of ZonePRO into further applications requiring additional microphone inputs. The new ZonePRO 1261m share the same total numbers of inputs and outputs as the ZonePRO 1261 but features six additional mic/line inputs. Ambient Noise Compensation (ANC) is also introduced on the new ZonePRO 1261m. This processing function allows the level of zone outputs to track the ambient noise level, monitored through a microphone and microphone input.
The front bar houses six JBL Control 28 wall mount speakers (with invisible brackets). Crown XLS series power amplifiers that were still going strong were also reused. JBL Control25 speakers are installed in the restaurant.
