The Arana Leagues Club has made a significant investment in its future by undertaking a dramatic renovation that has provided a much needed overhaul to the existing club, and has raised the bar for renovations in the Queensland Club Industry. This exciting refurbishment includes three new bars and is of a style and sophistication that is attracting a new demographic of clientele as well as keeping up with member expectations.

The renovations have added the much needed atmosphere and refinement that was previously lacking, and through some clever reconfiguration of spaces has also enhanced the flow of the club and created offers of distinct zones. The entire front of house ground floor has been fully updated and all work has been undertaken within the existing footprint of the venue, with the exception of a gaming extension which now offers a luxurious VIP gaming area and an adjoining private DOSA.

The interior fitout called for the traditional ‘club’ look and feel to be left behind, with a new palette of materials evoking a warm, inviting and harmonious atmosphere. A combination of neutral tones have been selected which let the interesting textures and high quality of materials feature.

Immediately upon entering the club, the tone is set for the feeling of a 5 star hotel. Opulent new marble floor tiles and screening leads patrons in towards the Gaming Room and through into the Bistro and Coffee Lounge beyond. Custom feature lights provide a sparkle in the Gaming Room and take advantage of the great ceiling height.

Arguably one of the most eye-catching features of this refurbishment is the new custom designed carpet from Feltex, which is of a design and scale never before seen in Australia, quite to this extent. Its huge 14 meter repeat design unifies zones and draws patrons through the club, and its appealing tones have provided the base for the balanced palette of materials used throughout.

A designated Coffee Lounge bar has been separated from the Bistro, providing patrons with a 5 star environment fitting for lounging and socialising. This has been a drawcard for a new style of patrons, as a

designated Coffee Lounge is a feature that was previously lacking in the club. The tone set in the Lounge blends seamlessly with the warmth and sophistication of the Bistro, where a strong use of timber and neutral materials has been the emphasis. Where the opportunities have arisen, custom designed lighting, screening and feature walls have all been included to give the club a uniqueness and sense of exclusivity. The Bistro is now an inviting version of its former self and the central hub of the club.

An Alfresco Dining area and Outdoor Lounge now take full advantage of the northerly aspect out towards the adjoining football fields and offers a unique environment for diners to enjoy the outdoors. This portion of the venue was previously underutilised and is now an upscale and stylish setting with sleek new furniture and an enticing atmosphere. A large imposing roof structure covers this whole aspect of the club, including the new Gaming DOSA, and is a commanding feature where it returns to the ground and blends seamlessly into the external wall of the Gaming extension. The main entrance has been also re-clad in eye catching warm tones – something which sets the scene for the mood within.

Feltex Carpet

The brief for the Feltex custom Woven carpet was to create a large floral pattern that spanned the width of main dining and entertaining areas. The colours and pattern merge seamlessly with the modern timber decor and create an inviting dining space for guests.

The Sports Bar maintains an understated masculine feel, with a state of the art TV wall and a sound ceiling providing the ultimate Sports Bar experience for punters, while still maintaining elements of a female friendliness. Bi-fold doors open onto the Bistro Lounge, providing the functionality that the club requires in peak and off peak times.

This renovation has breathed new life into the Arana Leagues Club, exemplifying a new design trend and setting precedence for future projects in the Queensland Club Industry. Its fresh and unique approach and sense of refinement has added a much needed atmosphere to the venue and is providing an exciting destination for the community.
