North Food and Wine is set at the Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina, Cairns with stunning views over the harbour.

North Food and Wine is part of the award winning Dedes Group who have established a reputation for first class restaurants in Australia and Fiji, and iinclude Flying Fish, Dedes Restaurant and Watergrill.

Local designers Studio Mango, who also designed the neighbouring lounge bar called Ba’ 8, wanted to create an adjoining dining experience of the same

calibre. Core to their thinking was that fine dining and
a lounge bar attracts two different demographics, and this required a subtle flow of similar textures while maintaining a distinction between the spaces.

This was achieved through the use of a limited number of prominent feature elements, the most obvious being a floor to ceiling curtain that runs along a 45m track to provide flexibility in the restaurant setup. In total there were seven feature items involved and this allowed for a very rapid and cost effective rebranding to create what is now one the leading restaurants in Cairns.
