KW Interiors’ aim was to create an upmarket look which compliments the water views whilst still being sympathetic to the demographic and it’s rowing community history.

Chair Ironica

The simplicity, retro style and variety of available colors allow Ironica chair to become an interior solitaire. The back part is made of seven hand-smoothed bars holding the bent backrest. This chair is easy to combine with its namesake table.

It was necessary to ensure that the interior of the club would be aesthetically pleasing at night fall when the stunning water views are no longer the main focus.

As it was a soft-refurbishment the floor plan itself didn’t undergo a major change, KW Interiors did however insert a wall with a double sided fireplace which separates the Watergrill Restaurant from the main lounge/club space. They also allowed for a combination of different types of seating: dining, lounge, armchairs and ottomans.

The use of timber throughout the club adds warmth amongst the strong use of blue and grey hues. The introduction of timber was quite important as it would’ve had the potential to become a bit cool. The natural, rustic element of the timber is a perfect contrast with the luxurious velvets in the upholstery.

The colour palette chosen was derived from the surrounding water views with the continual use of different shades of blues throughout the club. If you look closely you will see that certain finishes and light fittings are also in-keeping with the ocean inspiration. Special consideration was given to the continued use of the Watergrill Restaurant for functions and weddings, therefore furniture and finishes were selected that wouldn’t override the event taking place.

The three different full custom carpet designs from Brintons all co-ordinate with each other through the use of similar colours and design style. The furniture selection also reflects KW Interiors initial concept

really well. Even though there is a juxtaposition of style with beautiful upholstered seating and marble tables sitting next to quite coastal inspired chairs and timber tables, it just works perfectly.

Lighting played a huge part in reinforcing the design concept for this project. A lot of thought was put into selecting the right pendant for the lower lounge area as KW Interiors wanted something that would make a statement without pulling focus from the beautiful waterviews. They also really loved these pendants as their shape reflects a sea urchin which relates back to the clubs waterfront location. The feature pendants in the Watergrill really complete this space by injecting the pop of electric blue colour into the interior. The rope material used in the pendants relate back to the club’s history of rowing. The black table and floor lamps placed in the lounge areas of the club reinforces the sophistication of the club whilst creating low level ambience

The beautiful upmarket European branded armchairs upholstered in gorgeous fabrics are quite a special feature of this project adding touches of luxury and elegance.

The calacutta-look cladded double-sided fireplace is not only a beautiful focal point of the club that can be enjoyed from the restaurant and lounge area, but also a smart and subtle way of dividing two separate spaces. It plays a major role in achieving the upmarket look that KW Interiors were aiming for.

Everything that was selected from the finishes to the furniture and lighting, all reflect KW Interiors initial vision for the club perfectly. Their initial concept was blue and grey hues with timber elements to add warmth, white coastal style furniture with some special upholstered pieces to add sophistication.

As the waterfront aspect of the club is what draws patrons to Sydney Rowing Club, a soft-refurb also took place in the outdoor areas. New furniture and re-upholstery of the bench seating gave the outdoor dining spaces a fresh new look making it a special place to enjoy some food and a cold drink with friends.
