The clients are long established publicans within Hahndorf. With The Haus, the client wanted to create an environment where people could enjoy the very best in local produce and wine within inviting, multipurpose surroundings which give reference to Hahndorfs past in a contemporary context.

Enoki worked with Anni Luur Fox who created six storeys depicting the life, food and culture of the first settlers into the area. These stories were then converted into illustrations. These illustrations have been used within the fitout telling a visual story and to assist in creating the different zones within the fitout.

The Haus, has two large outdoor dining areas, one enclosed and one alfresco, each with wood fire heating. The interior is dividing into café

dining at the front and fine dining to the rear which is divided by a soft
screen of curtaining and a glass wine rack. Off to one side is a private glazed dining area for up to 20 people. The long bar was designed to cope with 7 day trading, breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night drinks.

The look and feel is relaxed, yet high end and unique. This is expressed through using the existing core elements of the site the rustic red brick, timber ceiling and trusses and offsetting them with dark timber wall and counter paneling, concrete benchtops and hearths, tessellated tiles, charcoal carpet and 25 feature ‘cumulus’ pendants which float above the diners. The dispursed black stenciled graphics provide a subtle detail to the interior allowing the patrons to provide colour.
