After two years, the Walkers Arms Hotel has been completely rebuilt and eco conscious from the outset with 90% of demolition material and site construction waste recycled.  The Walkers Arms Hotel General Manager Peter Johnson says, “In being able to start from the ground up, wherever practical, the selection of materials and finishes were made with environmental principles in mind.”

Some of the hotel’s sustainable elements include a massive 91,000 litre rainwater storage tank connected to the irrigation and waste water flushing system, as well as an eighteen panel solar hot water system, and thirty six solar electric panels which produces 20 kilowatts per day – sufficient for the first floor lighting.

Walkers Arms uses renewable energy sources, natural gas, water recycling, natural ventilation and lighting, reduced chemical requirements and temperature control to ensure the hotel’s durability and well being.

The hotel boasts a modern bar area, with a massive outdoor garden courtyard, two modern dining areas, and conference meeting room upstairs, and all the while remaining environmentally sensible, stylish, refreshing, and setting a new benchmark in South Australian hotel experience.

The brand new Walkers Arms Hotel, designed by Folland Panozzo, introduces new and existing patrons to a unique hospitality experience. The fully rebuilt hotel includes a massive garden courtyard immediately adjacent to the  14 metre marble long bar, two dining areas, and 20 eco sensitive accommodation rooms, all just three kilometres from the city.

The family friendly hotel provides a la carte and buffet dining, subtly separated by a huge marble hearth fire place. The a la carte dining offers customers an assortment of modern pub-style options suitable for the family. The gourmet buffet seats 200 guests in style with funky replica Louis the 16th chairs, serving a broad range of fresh dishes and a donut machine capable of producing 1440 donuts an hour.

Inspired by renowned French designer Philippe Starck, the new hotel has ensured all aspects are unique to the Adelaide market.  Including sunken opulent lounges, unique designer chairs, private courtyard huts
with individual TV’s and iPod docking stations, LED promotion screens on the bar and black gloss toilets fitted with something extra special.

The extensive outdoor garden courtyard features two of the finest superscreens in Australia.

The bar boasts a cocktail list with a range of impressive “velocity” recipes which take a speedy 45 seconds to formulate.  The cocktails are specially derived from Belvedere mixologist, Grant Collins and are the perfect solution for the ever-so-chic yet time-wary customer.

The hotel is owned by The Dean Group of Hotels, Dean Group General Manager Peter Johnson says, “In being able to start from the ground up we were given the opportunity to deliver something to Adelaide that was unique and different, which is immediately evident in the architecture and decor.”

After two years, the historical hotel has been completely rebuilt and eco conscious from the outset with 90% of demolition material and site construction waste recycled.  Wherever practical, selections of materials and finishes have been made with environmental principles in mind.

Being conveniently located in Adelaide’s inner north-east the accommodation exudes contemporary styling and offers 12 deluxe

rooms and eight spa rooms.  Mr Johnson says, “The comforts of our house guests are paramount.”

With a 91,000 litre rainwater storage tank connected to the irrigation and waste water flushing system, solar hot water system and solar electric panels, guests can stay at Walkers Arms comfortable knowing their stay will have low impact on the environment.  The solar electric system typically produces 20 kilowatts per day, which is sufficient for the first floor lighting.

The hotel is open until midnight on weeknights and 2am on weekends including Thursdays, with gaming open until 4am seven days a week.

The hotel’s architecture and ambience reflects the very essence of the rebuilt hotel, “coming to life.”

Cinema & Symphony installed the audio visual elements including the
120”  6mm Panasonic outdoor LED super screen and the 138” Samsung 3 x 3 outdoor LCD super screen. Added to that were twenty-six 42” Panasonic Plasma screens, eleven 50” Panasonic Plasma screens, three 7” bar top screens, and five screens mounted behind glass urinals/ mirrors.

Three Apple ipod docks for individual use in the outdoor huts were supplied with twenty pairs of Elan in ceiling speakers for the hotel rooms and in ceiling flush mounted subwoofer and speakers for the venue. Twelve Australian Monitior Amplifiers power the system.

Nightlife Music + Video

Nightlife Music + Video were excited to be a part of the redevelopment of Walkers Arms and welcomed the opportunity to take care of their music and visual needs. With the help of Walker Group’s Operations Manager, Jodie Kember, Nightlife’s SA Business Development Manager, Bruce Harbert, compiled a brief on the requirements for each area of the venue.

After the brief was approved by the venue a Nightlife system was configured to provide one channel of Music Video, an Ambient Video channel (through Nightlife’s collaboration with MoodTV) and a separate channel of background music designed especially for their gaming room. The same system also supplies a Digital Advertising program that is scheduled to play between the film clips, helping the venue communicate with its patrons.

The Nightlife system has been carefully programmed and scheduled to play music to suit the different trading patterns of the hotel and the content is updated fortnightly, keeping the music lists fresh and current. This means the hotel Managers can focus on running the pub rather than programming the music.
