National Group Product Development Manager Archie Kennedy says that one of the biggest advantages to planks is in their easy installation.
“A lot of the noise in the market around carpet tile planks has been about the new flooring designs that they make possible,“ he said.
“To me, the biggest advantage is in the ease of installation. Tiles in these dimensions are still easy to handle and, because you need less of them, the time savings are significant. In commercial projects “time is money” and when designers see some of the many clever patterns that we can offer in planks, they will be delighted. They not only get unique designs but also, a tile that installers will love to deal with.”
“Why wouldn’t you want to reduce handling and make it easier for installers?” he said.
Installation of plank carpet tiles is quicker and easier. This is due to the larger surface area covered per tile by planks when compared to regular square tiles, meaning that less handling is required during installation.
“Carpet tile planks, particularly in some of our linear patterns like Candy Shop, Nocturnal, Light Speed or Long Grain allow for some distinctive installation options. These Linear type patterns can be really striking, particularly when Herringbone, Basket Weave or Boxed-In configurations are used creatively within a space,” Mr Kennedy said.
