Located on the beachfront in Port Stephens, NSW, Shoal Bay Country Club draws its inspiration from the vibrant beach culture of its heyday – back in the 1950’s. This was largely an exercise in reinstating the charm that had been stripped from the building following a devastating fire and subsequent renovations.
Nostalgia is the underlying theme here, with the desire to recapture the hearts of the locals whilst appealing to holiday makers once again. The Beach Bar is raw and also refined. It’s the place where people mix freely at all times of the day and night. The plywood bar with terrazzo top is crafted like a 1950’s piece of furniture – perhaps even like one of those bars you would’ve found in someone’s home. The floor tiles are marble and distinguished but laid in a retro pattern – making it feel relaxed. Booth seating adorns the new timber 8 light French windows, highlighted by the wall lights. Custom pendant lights above the bar capture the era perfectly and furniture compliments the narrative.
The Cane Lounge is resurrected from the history books to appeal to the locals and those who have been holidaying in Shoal Bay for decades. It’s a comfortable space for lounging with family.
