Mezz Bar at Newcastle’s Wallsend Diggers Club features a unique central servery with fireplace and booth integration, and delivering a unique modern urban style.

A mezzanine wrapping around a stage and dance floor was central to the music lounge theme. Natural and honest materials reinforced the pub/rock theme.

The colours were chosen to blend with some exiting features and to give a clean new look. Lighting was critical to getting the stage lit up and featured, whilst still having good lighting in the rest of the venue.

The fireplace and curved stairwell work well in the void area to the street. Externally the façade blends with previous stages to give a rhythm of curved streetscape elements.

The interplay of industrial and the natural always leads to areas of unexpected delight. Exposing the beer system through windows into the coolroom was a late change.

The end result is pleasing and the bands and customers have reacted positively to the performance space.

Custom Carpet

The Mezz bar had a custom carpet design developed by EJE with Brintons Carpets.

The client is very happy with the result and reports multiple groups using the booths on the mezzanine and the private spaces and corporate areas designed into the scheme.
